About our team
Building Humane Technology is a public benefit organization bridging the gap between awareness of technology's harms and actionable solutions for change.
Erika Anderson, founder of Building Humane Technology and Co-Founder/Chief Customer Officer at Storytell.ai, leads the movement with a systems thinking approach inspired by Donella Meadows. Jack Senechal, our Fractional CTO and co-founder of Mirror Astrology, brings full-stack engineering expertise in AI infrastructure, Kubernetes, and scalable systems architecture. Andalib Samandari, AI Architect and Humane Technologist, brings seven years of experience in applied AI and data science across health tech, renewable energy, and AI security verticals, and is well-versed in compliance frameworks such as HITRUST, ISO 27001, and NIST. Sarah Ladyman, Experience Designer, applies her background in sustainability leadership and community-centered design to ensure our frameworks remain grounded in real human needs.

Our community extends far beyond the core team. Hundreds of engineers, researchers, designers, and founders participate in our hackathons, contribute to our open-source repository on GitHub, engage in our Slack workspace, and attend our workshops and trainings worldwide. From our Humane Tech Hackathons to our ongoing evaluation efforts where volunteers assess AI models against humane principles, we're building durable artifacts and lasting connections that demonstrate how technology can prioritize care, connection, fulfillment, and presence.
Whether you contribute code, participate in evaluations, attend workshops, or simply connect with like-minded people reimagining what technology can be—you have a place in this movement. Together, we're hardwiring humanity into our digital future.
